Геополитическое пространство как текст

Статья посвящена постмодернистскому аспекту изучения геополитического пространства как текста. Утверждается, что морфология геополитического пространства, понимаемого как текст, включает ландшафт, климат и ресурсы. Автор отмечает, что феномен использования пространства вовсе не равнозначен феномену освоения пространства. Это два различных способа прочтения данного специфического текста. Акцентируется то обстоятельство, что пока пространство не переведено в форму идеологически и художественно осмысленного мифотворчества, оно не освоено до конца. Итоговый вывод статьи: чтобы иметь возможность и получить выраженную результативность «читать» геополитическое пространство как текст, это пространство: 1) должно быть сформировано (иметь чётко выраженную морфологию); 2) должно быть освоено; 3) освоение данного геополитического пространства должно быть завершённым процессом, т.е. должно приобрести буквальную форму научного, идеологически-пропагандистского или художественного текста.

Geopolitical Space as a Text

Postmodern postnonclassical science treats almost all objects of study as text, thereby emphasizing the value of the perceiving subject in the research process. The metaphor of the text here is not accidental. The text has certain peculiarities. Thus, you cannot read the text of Byron’s "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" in the same way as the text of Dickens’ "David Copperfield". Exactly the same it is impossible to perceive (‘to read’) the geopolitical space of lowland and economically advanced Kingdom of the Netherlands in the same way as a geopolitical space of mountainous and underdeveloped Kingdom of Nepal. The interpretation of the text depends on the interests and abilities receptive (investigative) subject, that is, it may vary according to these factors. In the development process of civilization, the number of creative actors that format geopolitical space as a text is increased.

The subjects of my article are representations (and manifestations) of geopolitical space as a kind of ‘text’ and in different kinds of texts. For these purposes I used discourse analysis as a basic method in the framework of geospatial geopolitical approach (this approach assumes geopolitical space is divided into four main types: geographic, economic, informational-ideological and informational-cybernetic).

I argued the morphology of the geopolitical space, understood as a text that includes the landscape, climate and resources. Requirements impel a person to master space initially economically; then the stage of political (administrative) development comes, followed by ideological development of space, thanks to which it transforms into Fatherland. Throughout all of these stages, artistic development of space takes place, that is, space turns into a Homeland. Artistic development is the latest stage of development of space, far removed in time from the initial (economic) stage. Examples of different degrees of well-formedness of internal (regional, economic, ideological) and external (geopolitical) spaces of several countries are representations of morphologies and landscapes of these spaces in Dreiser's novels from the series "Trilogy of desire" (USA), Pavel Bazhov's tales and Viktor Pelevin's novels (Russia).

I note the phenomenon of using space is not equal to the phenomenon of  development of space. These are two different ways of ‘reading’ this specific text. I emphasize the fact that while space is not translated in the form of ideologically and artistically conscious myth-making, it is not mastered until the end.

The final conclusion of the article is: to be able to get a strong performance to ‘read’ the geopolitical space as a text, this space (i) must be formed to have a clearly defined morphology); (ii) must be mastered; (iii) the development of this geopolitical space should be completed by the process, i.e. should have the literal form of scientific, ideological propaganda or literary text.
